1 medium size Kudappan / Banana Flower
1 Onion, finely chopped
1tbsp Garlic, minced
Curry Leaves
Shrimp ( fresh or dried ), optional
1-2tbsp Chilli Flakes
1/4tsp Turmeric
1/2cup Grated Coconut
Salt

Directions
- Prepping Kudappan / Banana Flower:
- Remove 1st two or three layers by simply pulling the petals apart.
- Makesure to wash Kudappan before chopping.
- Do check the video provided about prepping Kudappan.
- Its better to use knife to chop Kudappan, I tried Food processer to chop Kudappan onces but it cameout more of fibery texture.
- Let’s start Cooking:
- Heat some Oil in a pan and saute Onion, Garlic and Curry Leaves.
- Saute until Onion turns light brown in color.
- Allow Shrimp to cook, will take only few minitues.
- Sprinkle Chilli Flakes and Turmeric.
- Saute for few minitues or until raw smell is gone.
- Carefully spread finely chopped Kudappan or Banana Flower.
- Add Salt, mix everything well.
- Cover the pan using a tight lid and allow Kudappan to cook.
- Don’t forget to stir occassionally.
- When Kudappan is fully cooked add Grated Coconut.
- Mix everything well.
- Serve Kudappan / Banana Flower Ularthiyathu hot or warm with Rice.
