I got this recipe from my best friend Lakshmy . Its a very easy & simple dish to do . So lets start :

1cup Ponni Rice
1/2cup Moong Dal
1tsp grated Ginger
1/2tsp Turmeric Powder
1tsp Pepper Powder
Salt
3cup Water
1cup Milk
- For Garnish
Ghee
Cashews
1/2tsp grated Ginger
1tsp Whole Black Pepper
Curry Leaves
1tsp Hing
Directions
- Dry roast the Dal in a low flame until you get the roasted smell of Dal .
- Wash both the Rice & Dal & transfer to the pressure cooker .
- Add all the ingredients & cook until you hear 3 whistle .
- Allow it to cool down .
- Open the lid & using the back of the spoon mash the Rice & Dal together .
- If needed add some more water & milk .
- (It will be good if you can mix some water & milk in a pan & keep near to the Rice , cos when the Pongal gets cold it will get hard , so you can add some water & milk mixture to the Pongal & make it back to its texture . )
- For Garnish
- In a pan heat some ghee & fry all the ingredients &Onion Vetha Kozhambu add to the Pongal .
- Serve it hot with some Onion Vetha Kozhambu .
