Challah ( Egg Bread )

I made Bread today …………. It was fun . This is a Jewish bread , they used to make this  for  special occasion.
While making bread you have to knead the dough , punch it down , then allow it to raise …………. it has several procedures . Let’s do it ……………..

1st  Step …………

1 1/4 cup Warm Water                           1/4 cup Flour
                                   2tsp Active Dry Yeast

In a big bowl mix  warm Water ,  Flour &  Active Dry  Yeast . Let it stand for 10-20min , or until the yeast starts to puff up .

2nd Step ……………

1/3 cup Sugar                        1/4 cup Oil
3 Eggs                                   1tsp Salt

Whisk in  Sugar , Oil , Eggs &  Salt .

3rd Step ……………..

3 1/2 cup Flour                                          1/4 cup Oil

Add  Flour , add 1 cup at a time , knead the dough with your hands . If the dough is sticky add some more Flour & make a dough which don’t stick . Into that add  Oil & knead again . Cover the dough with a plastic wrap & allow it rise , around 2hrs .
After 1hrs open the wrap & pat down the dough . Again wrap the dough & allow it to rise for 1hrs.

4th Step………….

After 2 hrs take the dough outside & knead for 5min , divide the dough into equal 3 parts & roll the dough into 9 inch long rope . Braid the 3 ropes together & pinch the ends to seal . Transfer this into a greased  baking sheet & cover with a dish cloth . Allow the dough to rise again .

5th Step ………………….

Pre – heat the Oven to 325 degree . Beat 1 egg & brush it on the top of  the braid . Sprinkle with some Poppy Seeds or Sesame Seeds . Bake for 30 – 40 min or until bread is golden brown color . Cool the bread for 1hr , slice & enjoy !!!!!!!!
